BMKQ, BWI hold basic OSH seminar

As a major mission of Bayanihan ng Manggagawa sa Konstruksyon ng Qatar (BMKQ) to promote Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) among workers in the construction sector, a one-day basic OSH training was held on June 8, 2015, in support and collaboration with Building and Wood Workers International (BWI).

The one-day OSH training was attended by more than 25 participants, Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos, and Vice-Consul Gonar Mosul of the Philippine Embassy, and Mr. Pol De Jesus – Labor Attaché of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Doha, and other guests.

The officials of the Philippine Embassy and POLO in Qatar discussed the various programs and services of their respective offices which relate to the Filipino overseas workers in the host-country.

BMKQ holds Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) among 140 construction workers

About a total of 140 Filipino workers from the construction and allied sectors attended the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) conducted by BMKQ through the support of Building and Wood Workers International (BWI). The three-batch PAOS were culminated on May 29, 2015.

PAOS is similar to the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) given by agencies in the Philippines under the direction of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) among Filipino overseas workers before their deployment. However, PAOS is more focused on salient provisions of applicable labor and residency laws of the host-country, in addition to g occupational healthy and safety.

The conduct of PAOS had been BMKQ’s continuous programs carried out all through out the year, extended even to non-construction workers.
