About BMKQ

Bayanihan ng Manggagawa sa Konstruksyon ng Qatar (BMKQ) was established on July 24, 2015 and received accreditation from the Philippine Embassy in Qatar, under Certificate of Accreditation No. WCS-016-2015. BMKQ is a non-profit organization of Filipino expatriates in Qatar working in the construction sector, which aims at promoting social, civic and spiritual well-being of members, emulation of the sense of responsibility and extension of help and collaborative efforts for members in need. BMKQ functions within the bounds of the laws of Qatar and the Philippines and partners with these governments’ agencies in carrying out community-based programs and services.

 

More specifically, BMKQ promotes the moral, social and economic well-being of members by carrying out programs, projects, and activities that will benefit them, in collaboration with other stakeholders such as the Philippine Embassy and Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Qatar, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Interior (MoI), and others.

Our fundamental policies consist of:

  • Promote social, civic and spiritual well-being of members
  • Emulate the sense of responsibility and extending helping hands and collaborative efforts for everyone in need.
  • To function within the bounds of the legal framework of the laws of the State of Qatar
  • To observe the provisions pertaining to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other related laws that shall be enacted in the future
  • To encourage and promote goodwill, unity, friendship, camaraderie and utmost discipline among its members, as well as to protect and uphold individual and collective rights of all the members
  • To promote the moral, social and economic well-being of all the members, as well as to develop and enhance the interests of its members through the process of productive interaction and sharing of ideas
  • To conduct programs, projects and services that are beneficial to all of its members

“We, the Officers and Members of the Bayanihan ng Manggagawa sa Konstruksyon ng Qatar (BMKQ) in order to promote our moral, social, and economic well-being; protect and uphold our individual and collective rights, recognizing the principle that every human individual is equal before the law regardless of nationality, gender orientation & religion; upholding that work is an inherent right and all workers are entitled to decent work; and affirming that Filipino Construction Workers have social, civic, moral and spiritual responsibilities towards his/her fellow construction workers ever conscious of the need for establishing our joint and collective efforts in helping and providing voluntary aide to the exigency of every Filipino construction workers as well as the embodiment of our ideals, rights and freedom in accordance with the existing laws of Qatar, and other applicable laws of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby ordain and promulgate this Constitution and By-Laws.”
